All Star Skills Competition will consist of the following- We are looking at some changes in some of these events in the way they are run but not 100% sure yet :)

1- Ball throw accuracy using typical base distance- 30' for Tyke, 45' for Mite, 55' for Squirt, 60' for Peewee, Bantam & Midget (5 Balls, 1 pt for hitting target with Bulls eye used as tie breaker for Tyke & Mite, 1 pt for hitting target, 2 pts for bulls eye in squirt and up)

2- Base running speed using typical base distances (45' for Tyke & Mite, 55' for Squirt, 60' for Peewee, Bantam & Midget) (Running start- start timer when you cross home plate and stop time when you cross again. .25 second penalty for missing a base. If you fall or fault then a second attempt is allowed at the end of your group)

3- Windmill pitching Speed competition (Tykes will be allowed to throw as they wish but Mite and up will use a legal windmill pitch) (3 pitches)

4- Ball Distance throw competition (3 balls, measure furthest)

5- Golden Glove- Pop Fly from pitching machine at minimum of base distance for division involved. Fielders will start on a base and move 10 feet away from the ball upon completion of event. On each successful catch an additional running distance will be added to where the ball lands. One dropped ball will eliminate you from this competition following warmup. The convenor may increase the distance away from the pop fly if players are not being eliminated.

There will be awards for 1st to 4th place in each division & for each event but with no distinction between east and west (24 competitors per division)

The top athlete award will be given to the top athlete in each division (Tyke to Midget) and the recipient must be present at the presentation to accept or it will be presented to the next attending player in order of finish. We have had issues in the past (especially in the Midget division) of the game presentation not being important enough to stay for due to the busy lives of players. The decision has been made by the GBMSL executive to present to only those who make the decision to stay and be part of the presentation process.
