THE PROVINCIALS- Aug 17th in Kitchener

Our gbmsl mite select team arrived at the provincials on Saturday morning and were ready to play. In their first game, they faced off against Bramalea. Dylan dominated on the mound and the Rattler bats were alive, as the team steamrolled to a 20-2 win.

The next game did not go quite as smoothly. The Rattlers came up against Sebringville, the eventual tournament winners. Sebringville stymied the Rattlers with dominant pitching, and although our pitchers pitched well, we couldn't keep them off the scoreboard, falling 12-1.

The rattlers were down but not out. Their next opponent was Unionville. Our offense returned and Nadia and Nic both pitched extremely well, resulting in a16-2 victory.

Unfortunately, we were placed in the same pool as Sebringville, which made it impossible for the rattlers to make the championship final(after losing to them in the morning), even though Georgian Bay was clearly stronger than the rest of the field. We would have loved another chance at Sebringville, but it wasn't to be. The Rattlers met Bramalea in the consolation final, and once again came out on top, winning the consolation championship in dominant fashion.

Coaches Rob and Shawn, and bench manager Darlene were very proud of the way the kids played, and the way in which they represented gbmsl! Way to go Rattlers!

Bracebridge- June 29, 2013

Gold Medalist Rattler team in Bracebridge

Our mite select rattlers travelled to Bracebridge for their first tournament of the year. And what a tournament it was! The rattler bats were alive, as our mites put run after run on the scoreboard through their first 3 games. The pitching was impressive too, with 10 different players pitching at least 1 inning.

But the real test came during their final game vs a very strong defensive team from Grimsby. The rattlers were trailing the entire game, and found themselves down by 3 runs going into the bottom of the seventh. But our mites were not intimidated. With a display of clutch hitting you wouldn't expect from players so young, the rattlers rallied for 4 runs and a walk-off win, to finish 4-0 and take gold in the tournament!

Congratulations mite select!
