The GBMSL Mite Tournament 2018

Locations: Toanche-2 diamonds & Lafontaine- 2 diamonds

This tournament will consist of 2 pools, top 8 teams (AA tournament- 2 pools of 4 with winners of pools playing for Gold silver) and next 5 teams (A tournament- 1 Pool of 5 teams)

This is a full round robin on the AA side and double knock out style to qualify for final game on the A side

After running this tournament for years we have come to the conclusion that many teams cannot handle more than 3 games in a day at this age group nor can most junior umpires handle more than 4 games in a day. We understand a full round robin would be better for both tournaments but it's difficult to do in a house league program as not all players/teams can handle it and we don't have sufficient diamond space with two facility's to pull it off. Please remember the hosts do not setup the format, it is done by the league scheduler in consultation with the league and based on previous tournament experience and reccomendations.

In the tournament Points matter (2 for win, 1 for tie, 0 for loss) as does run spread in the event of a tie, that said if your last bat is important to you then you should chose away at the coin toss, chosing home means that you don't get your last bat if you are winning. Head to head will not be used as all teams do not play each other! All games are finished when a team is winning by one in the bottom of the final inning. Read the tournament rules and understand them. The open inning will be called whenever an inning opens after an hour of play, this is the final inning! The open inning is not required to constitute a game so if an inning doesn't end between an 1:00 and the 1:15 time limit there will not be one! The open inning is not to be called before the hour is played! The 1:15 is not a drop dead time, the inning will be finished or until a team is winning by 1 run in the bottom of the inning. If the home team is winning and the 1:15 is up they will not bat.

All teams are guaranteed 3 games in AA side- 2 games on A side

Seeding will be based on results submitted by June 18th

Rule Reminders for Tournaments:

1- Open inning rule as described above

2- There is a mercy rule of 20 runs after 3 innings, 15 runs after 4 innings

3- You can play with 8 players without penalty (no 8 player rule or automatic outs) You CANNOT play with 7 players

4- Pitching rules are the same as regular season, Max 2 innings in a row and 3 max. for the game. One pitch thrown in an inning is considered an inning pitched. Scorekeepers need to track who is pitching, it is not the umpires job.
