A very sincere thank you to all who came out and tried out for the team. We had an awesome amount of talent for these tryouts which made the final decision an extremely difficult task. If you didn't make the team we would encourage you to tryout for a select team again next year!

Tournaments :

June 23rd - Unionville

July 21st - Oshawa

August 11th - Scarborough (Topham Park)

August 18th - Victoria Harbour

Tournament #1- Saturday June 23rd, Unionville

What a hot, hot day and hard to find any shade even at the first early morning game.  With a new team there is always a learning curve for coaches as well as players.  We got off to a rough start, but with each game improvement was made.  This team has only been together for a short time and this was our first tournament.  Games are shorter with only 75 minutes and an average of only 4 innings, which makes it harder for comebacks.  We will continue to learn what each players strengths are, and place them in positions that will be best for the team.  We want to thank parents for there continued cheering support and travelling efforts.  Our next tournament is July 21st in Oshawa and we will be in contact about our next practice which will to be scheduled soon.

Tournament #2- Saturday July 21st, Oshawa

                    PLACE:  Alexandra Park

What an awesome improvement this team has made, coaches from other teams were commenting how well we were playing together.  As coaches we were very proud to hear these comments!  We battled the heat and sun from early morning to late afternoon to take a spot in the two final games.  Even though we took the fourth place medals we could not be prouder of this team, they are getting better with each tournament that we play in!  We are really looking forward to the Provincials on August 18th and so are the other teams, as there was lots of talk about it! We will continue to practice and get ready for the next tournament in Scarborough (Topham Park) on August 11th.

The Peewee Select OASA Provincial Championships were held in Victoria Harbour & Port McNicoll on August 18th

Participating in the tournament were- GBMSL Rattlers Selects, Cambridge Selects, Orleans Rebels, Topham Park Selects, Stittsville Selects, Whitchurch/Stouffville Selects (WSSA), Bramalea Selects & Smith's Falls Redmen Selects

What a great day for ball. It was around 21 degrees and some cloud cover throughout the day. No rain and no really high temperatures, probably the nicest tournament weather this season.

The Rattlers fought hard in the round robin and needed to finish 2nd or higher to move on to the final rounds. A do or die game against Topham Park became the deciding game and the Rattlers gave them a tough fight but in the end the Rattlers were defeated after 3 great games of ball. The Semi's saw Orleans against Topham Park & Cambridge playing Smiths Falls. Smiths Falls & Topham came our on top and moved on to the Championship Round. Topham dominated the final game for the first 3 innings but then Smiths Falls bats came to life and the score went the other way. When the final out was called it was Smiths Falls that came out on top. Congratulations to all 8 teams on a great day of ball. The Rattlers can be proud of the fact that the team that eliminated them came close to winning the Provincials, each player should be proud of the fact that they held their own with the 2nd place team. Special thanks go out to  Victoria Harbour Minor Ball, Glenn & Cheryl, Felix who committed his day, the umpire who came through for us, Keith & Sandra who did the organizing, signs, etc. Thanks go out to Duncan Matheson who piped the teams onto the field, we are grateful for his commitment to our program when he had such a bus schedule. Thanks to the teams who made the day a success, to the coaches who give their time and the parents who make Fastball their game of choice!

The Rattlers ended up finishing 5th overall on the day, a great day a lot of fun to watch! Congrats on a great season!
