Tourney May 19,20 in Port Perry

Game 1, The Rattlers won this game 10-0 to open the tourney against Napanee. Braden Clark pitched a gem for the win and Zach Mclean lead the offence with three singles. Nevin King had a solid game with a double and two walks and Thomas Maw smacked a triple and added a single. Kaiden Maw lead off the game with a walk and Tye King contributed a single and a walk.

Game 2, Nate Robitaille started second game against Bellville and the Rattlers took the win 11-8. The team had one bad inning in which Bellville scored 7 runs in the 5th but otherwise a solid effort. Braden Clark and Darren Priest led offence with two hits each. Nate Robitaille and Andrew Priest also had two hits, with singles going to Thomas Maw, Owen King, Dustin Leonard.

Game 3, Braden Clark got the start in this one but the Rattlers where clearly not up to the challenge as the team struggled. The Rattlers lost 13-0 and didnít challenge at any point in the game. The offense was dry but Nate Robitaille and Braden Clark still managed good at bats each going 1 for 1 with a walk.

Game 4, The Rattlers qualified for the B final. It turned out to be a re-match against Bellville. Nate Robitaille started but couldnít shut Bellville down as they won 7-5. The Rattlers had a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the 4th but the defence and pitching again struggled giving up 5 runs. They rallied to load the bases in the 7th but couldnít score. Braden Clark went 2 for 2 with a walk and Zach Mclean had a single and a double. Big hit of the game went to Andrew Priest who stroked a triple.  Singles went to Dustin Leonard, Darren Priest and Kaiden Maw.

Great tourney and a good learning experience for the team. As players start to mature they must learn patience and focus. This will come guys, if you continue to work hard. Finishing 4th is very respectable at this level of fastball, well done.

Brantford June 23,24

Game 1, The Rattlers faced a stacked team in Wellesley for their first game. Nate Robitaille got the start but couldnít find any rhythm and only lasted 4 innings. Zach Mclean came in for relief and pitched well. This was a tough game for the Rattlers as Wellesley never let up and won the game 16-1. Singles went to Zach Mclean, Nate Robitaille, and Darren Priest. Andy Cook earned a walk. Wellesley has become the team to beat this year as they have added many players in the off season. We look forward to facing them again.

Game 2, Still feeling the sting of the previous game, the team came out hungry for a win. Braden Clark pitched the Rattlers to victory, 11-1 over Cambridge. A well played and focused game for the Rattlers. Everybody registered at least a hit in this one. Zach Mclean and Darren Priest poked triples, Tye King, Braden Clark, Owen King all went 2 for 2. Andy Cook went 2 for 3 and Nate Robitaille, Dustin Leonard, Kaiden Maw, Thomas Maw, Andrew Priest, and Nevin King had singles.

Game 3, Nate Robitaille got the start in this one but some defensive struggles returned for the team as they lost 5-4. The offence didnít muster any timely hits, but they did put the ball in play as our team had only 2 strike-outs. Nevin King, Thomas Maw, and Andy Cook went 2 for 3 with singles going to Andrew Priest, Zach Mclean, Nate Robitaille, and Kaiden Maw. Tough loss as the team just couldnít keep the ball out of the air with many pop fly outs.

Game 4, The Rattlers qualified for the C final and faced Kitchener/Waterloo. Braden Clark took the ball to the mound and set the tone in the first inning by shutting them down. KW never really challenged the Rattlers in this one as the team went on to a 12-2 victory. Nate Robitaille went 3 for 3, Nevin King, Tye King, and Kaiden Maw went 2 for 3. Singles were added by Andrew Priest, Zach Mclean, Darren Priest, Thomas Maw, and Braden Clark. Thomas Maw and Owen King received walks, and Dustin Leonard was once again robbed of a single.

Great tourney and a good effort put fourth by the players. That brings our record to 4-4 so far, very respectable. Driving the ball level will be our focus going forward.

The OASA Peewee Elimination Tournament is being held in Toanche this weekend. (July 13, 14 & 15)
